Touring the C.F. Martin Guitar Factory: Unforgettable !

Post & Images by Jack McIntyre

MY TOUR THROUGH THE CF MARTIN GUITAR FACTORY, NAZARETH PENNSYLVANIA.

I recently had the chance to tour the C.F. Martin & Co. guitar factory in Nazareth, Pennsylvania—and honestly, I’m still blown away. I’m adding this post because as I travel motorcycle rally to rally, world wide, I see guitars everywhere. I’m a collector, and I know that there are so many more Bikers out there that collect as well so I thought I’d highlight a local gem to me, the C.F Martin & Co. Guitar Factory.

As someone who appreciates craftsmanship and music, walking through the birthplace of some of the world’s finest acoustic guitars was like stepping into a living museum. From stacks of raw tonewoods to the final hand-polishing of each guitar, every step in the process reflects an incredible commitment to quality and tradition. At the bottom of this post, I attached all of my images. from the tour. Take note of the manufacturing process, the hand tools, and the skill that’s required to build a world class guitar.

ps. My Favorite guitar during the tour, a double neck valued at over $8000.00 dollars (and up). (below)

What struck me most was how much of the process is still done by hand. In an age of automation, seeing skilled artisans meticulously shaping necks, fitting bracing, and voicing tops reminded me why Martin guitars have such a legendary reputation. You don’t just hear the difference—you feel it.

There were also rooms where you could pickup a Martin & just play, personal places with choices of guitars wall to wall.

The tour also included a look at their museum, showcasing historic instruments and rare models played by legends like Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, and Joan Baez. It was a powerful reminder of the role Martin has played in music history. The museum was being filmed the day I was there so maybe I’ll be invited back and can add to this post?

If you’re ever in the area—even if you’re not a guitarist—I can’t recommend this tour enough. It’s an inspiring look into American craftsmanship and the soul of acoustic music.

Below are all of the images form my tour. Enjoy them, you won’t see a USA Factory like this in today’s world, they are very far and few.
