When it comes to turning Harley-Davidson Sportsters into badass, one-of-a-kind machines, few names carry the history of Pat Patterson and Led Sled Customs in Dayton, Ohio. What started with Pat wrenching on his own 1993 Sportster eventually grew into a full-fledged custom motorcycle operation in 2003, built on old-school craftsmanship, American-made parts, and a serious love for the open road. From handcrafted hardtail frames, gas tanks, fenders, exhaust systems, and Springer front ends to complete custom choppers and bobbers, Pat and his crew have spent more than two decades creating motorcycles that look as good as they ride. Their innovative Sportster kicker kit and hardtail conversions helped establish Led Sled as a familiar name in the custom motorcycle world, with their work appearing in major motorcycle publications and shows around the globe. Today, the operation calls a beautifully restored 1878 Ohio barn home, housing approximately 11,000 square feet of motorcycle history, fabrication equipment, and custom-built iron. Recently, House of Choppers Nation photographer Chopper Dave made his way to Led Sled Customs to check out the shop, soak up the atmosphere, and capture some of the incredible craftsmanship that has made Pat Patterson’s name synonymous with custom Sportsters. This is the kind of place where American motorcycle tradition is alive and well, and we’re excited to share Dave’s visit with our readers!
