TO USE, OR NOT TO USE… AI THAT IS…

Post & Images by Jack McIntyre

Whether you embrace it or fight it, Artificial Intelligence has rolled into the garage and it’s not leaving. Every day it’s being used by major websites, graphic designers, photographers, YouTubers, podcasters, advertisers, and businesses of every kind. Just like digital cameras replaced film for many photographers and Photoshop became a standard tool years ago, AI has become another tool in the toolbox. The real question isn’t whether it’s here, it’s how you choose to use it.

At House of Choppers Nation, we’ve always been about one thing above everything else: original motorcycle photography. That hasn’t changed, and it isn’t going to change. Since 1999, our galleries have been built around real bikes, real people, real events, and real moments captured through our camera lenses. Those images are photographed by me, Chopper Dave, along with a few trusted guest photographers and, more recently, Judy Moore, who has joined our team. That’s the heart and soul of what we do.

Where AI comes into play is mostly on the front porch. We may use it to help create a feature poster that introduces a new gallery, improve the presentation of one of our own photographs, or quickly add creative text and graphics to an image. Years ago we spent hours doing the same thing in Photoshop. Today, tools like ChatGPT simply make that process faster and often spark ideas we may not have considered. The important part is that the foundation of those feature posters is still our own photography, not someone else’s artwork or a completely AI-generated scene.

When you click into one of our galleries, you’re seeing exactly what our cameras saw that day. We don’t replace motorcycles, invent crowds, or create fake events. Those galleries remain authentic, just as they have for more than a quarter century. The feature image may receive some AI-assisted artistic treatment to grab your attention, but once you’re inside, it’s all real.

If AI isn’t your thing, we certainly respect that. Everyone has their own opinion, and that’s perfectly fine. Our commitment remains the same as it’s always been, to bring you genuine motorcycle photography from the road, rallies, bike nights, shows, and events we actually attend. AI simply helps us present that work in new and creative ways while the galleries themselves continue to tell the real story, one photograph at a time.

Now, we do love generating some fun posters such as these, the models and or crowd pics involved are from one of out shoots with AI ideas swarming around them, but that’s ok & we love it because it helps to create a mood of the event or gallery we are presenting.

So, we will continue to have fun using AI to create cartoons, & enhancements for our posters & we hope that you enjoy the effort & imagination put into this.
