LOOKING BACK AT THE 2013 HAMSTER DRAGS IN VALE, SOUTH DAKOTA. A ONE OF A KIND EVENT, NEVER TO HAPPEN AGAIN.

Post and Images by Jack McIntyre

The year was 2013, I was with the Hamsters that year awaiting my opportunity to become a Hamster, I had gone in front of the board a year prior and was hoping to hear my name called during the yearly dinner, but no go. My sponsor backed away from sponsoring anyone, so I was cut out… I have lots of Hamster friends, so it really didn’t bother me too much.

However, I still attended events, and when time allows, still do today, 12 years later.

Back to the post, in 2013 I went with the guys out to tiny little Vale, SD. It was / is, literally a one road town with a few homes & buildings. At the time, it was kind of a secret where these races took place, so you had to know someone going as far as I knew. I was invited, and it was a day to remember. The images to follow are very cool, so please consider subscribing to see them all.

Below you can see the “one road” I was referring to. The local Sheriff closed it down for this less than legal event, but man was it cool. Drag racing motorcycles, some were just stock bikes, some not so much, but it was like a movie scene from American history. I won’t say too much more, enjoy the pics, you’ll get the vibe. I believe that this was the last year for the Drags in Vale, it has since moved to the Buffalo Chip.
