The Legends Ride during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is always the event to attend. No matter what you are doing, get there. Co-hosted by the Legendary Buffalo Chip and the Deadwood Chamber of Commerce, the Legends Ride over the many years has brought in millions of much needed dollars helping charities like the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and the Black Hills Special Olympics while having a lot of fun along the way.

THE KICK OFF, RIDE, AND AFTER RIDE PARTIES.
Walk the same walk that our Wild West legends did over the beautiful cobblestone streets of Deadwood. Main Street in Deadwood is for motorcycles only, so there you can enjoy the “car free” experience while spotting a celebrity or two during the event. In front of the Silverado Franklin Historic Hotel & Gaming Complex, participate in the art & custom motorcycle auction which again, helps the above noted charities.

Following the auction, take part in the guided ride through the stunning Black Hills with the joining celebrities riding sometimes, right next to you.

The ride then ends at the Buffalo Chip, riders pay their respects at the Freedom Celebrity Field, then onto a riders only reception stacked with complimentary food, drinks, and a killer concert.

THIS PARTICULAR LEGENDS RIDE
The Legends Ride of 2009 had celebrities such as Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, John Paul DeJoria, Sheree Wilson from Walker Texas Ranger, Phil Pitzer from Easy Rider, The Ride Back, Lorenzo Lamas, Cory & Zach Ness, and many more.
Enough talk from me, I’ll add images below with a few captions.

This is the view from the top deck of the Franklin Hotel just before the press conference began. As you can see, the bikers showed up nice & early, and this isn’t the half of them all.

John Paul Dejoria being interviewed prior to the press conference, not lets step inside.

These next few images are from the morning pre-ride press conference. Above, Rod (Woody) Woodruff address the crowd followed by Steven Tyler, Lorenzo Lamas, and others.

I watched Steven with all of the bikers, all day long. He was nothing short of amazing with everyone.
Now, lets get back outside to the start of the ride, and many more familiar faces.

Photographer Michael Lichter preps the crown for a massive group shot.

Group shot example from by Photographer Michael Lichter in 2014, 2009 would have been similar.

The cameras like to follow Steven Tyler, and for good reason.

Part of the auction, a motorcycle and Fender Guitar from Dirico Motorcycles, Steven Tyler’s Company.

Actress Sheree Wilson, you would know her from Walker, Texas Ranger.
THE RIDE BEGINS. Now please understand, I was riding my Harley-Davidson Roadking with Photographer Aaron Packard siting backwards on my bike. So shooting images for me was a bit of a challenge.

So now the humorous part of the day. A small group of us became separated from the pack somewhere in the Black Hills. We pulled over, chatted about it for a bit, and came up with a plan. Steven Tyler was bouncing around talking with us all, posing for pictures, then we found ourselves a tiny gas station and read a big map on the wall. Our cell phones weren’t as advanced as they are today, so there were no “instant directions”.

This is how Steven Tyler was with me through the week, always a blast to be with.

We did find that gas station I mentioned, and the looks on the peoples faces not believing that Steven Tyler was standing there, and talking with everyone, was precious.

The map was found, so now we had a game plan, back to the Buffalo Chip for one Hell of a crazy evening.

Meanwhile back at the Buffalo Chip, well, see for yourself.

Thanks for reading this post. Next up… the MBE (Motor Bike Expo) has just finished in Verona Italy. I’ll be sharing pictures and press releases THEN preparing for Daytona Bikeweek, getting everyone in the mood to ride.
If you have received this email & were not expecting it, you can unsubscribe below. I have reached out to everyone over the years, but I haven’t shared my blog posts as I once did. I am diving back into blogging rather than just shooting and posting images. Please stick with me. Cheers everyone. Jack
